07-28-2016 One Day in Lisbon (Part 1): Santa Justa Lift, São Jorge Castle

After the crazy experience last night, I took a good night of sleep with air condition. ???? such a luxurious experience lol

Breakfast was even included in the stay of my hostel.

 

Time to explore Lisbon!

The elevator opens daily at 9 am, but when I got there at 9:30 am, the line was already very long. I would rather spend my time on other attractions.

From where this castle is located, you can get the best view of the whole coast and the city. 😉

I could even see the 25 de Abril Bridge (Lisbon’s Golden Gate Bridge) here.

There was a 360 telescope apparatus located at the site with guided explanation.

Visitors were guided into a dark room, like the one in planetarium, but with a wide screen in the middle of the room. The telescope then projected the image from the outside into the room, and everybody just gathered around the circle and listened to the history and descriptions of what we saw.

I only had time for the Portuguese tour, so I didn’t understand a single word of it, but it was pretty amazing that you could see how such telescope interacted.
