09/29/2015 Amsterdam, Netherlands
By far, I really like Amsterdam. It’s a city full of rivers and boats.
Alvin’s style of traveling lol
Van Gogh Museum
One of the best art museums I have ever been to! Van Gogh is really talented and even I , as an really unprofessional person , could feel the talent of his art works.
Had a great lunch in the museum
I love salmon so much lol somehow
At the end I spent a lot longer than I expected and the audio guide was so worth it! So detailed and so much information.
The Gooyer (De Gooyer)
As it was too far away from the Van Gogh museum, I decided to take the tram but it was so exhausting and people were so unfriendly.
Because I was out of cash, I went to a subway station and get a ticket which costs 2.9 euros per 1 hour unlimited ride.
I got the card but i got on the wrong direction tram, but then when I tried to get on the right direction tram, my card became invalid because I didn’t “check out” when I left the first tram.
I showed the driver the receipt that I got, which showed I bought the ticket 10 minutes ago and she refused to see it and asked me to pay again or otherwise get off. She was so rude to a level that I didn’t even want to talk to her.
Well luckily I got back to the station and luckily the employee who helped me purchase to ticket recognized me and gave me a new ticket instead.
Flower Market (Bloemenmarkt)
It took forever again to wait for the train to get to somewhere. I realized walking could be faster but I already got the ticket.
Unlike what I imagined would be, the flower market was kind of small, just a small street next to a river.
They don’t sell fresh flowers as well, only dried flower bulbs.
The US government prohibits any kind of plant to come to the states lol. Can’t buy any back as gifts.
Anne Frank Museum
The museum was more emotional than the 911 museum and maybe at the same level as the Hiroshima atomic museum.
I waited an hour to get in and a group of people cut in front of me.
There was something interesting though . I realized the person waiting in front of me was from San Francisco because of his accent and he was Asian and I was right lol
San Franciscans do have a special accent I just didn’t notice.
This Place was actually the place where she hid before she was capture by the germans. There were a lot of stories before everything that she wrote and used and decorated her space.
Even though her situation was really bad, she was always optimistic and it hurt my heart so bad.
I was just crying and crying when I saw the memorial video at the end.
Anna Frank was a strong little girl and her story should be remembered by everyone.
