Barcelona – Sagrada Familia, National Museum of Catalan Visual Art

2017-01-21 (Barcelona)

The food poisoning from yesterday was horrible. Being sick on a trip is not fun, and being sick on a trip alone is the worst.

Sagrada Familia

Finally get to the only place I actually intended to see here in Barcelona, Sagrada Familia. Even though this is just a typical weekday, there are a lot of people waiting in line for admission. I got the one with audio guide and Gaudi house admission bundle.

The Sagrada Familia was first constructed in 1882, and now the basílica is still being constructed and perfected by money from tourist admission. You would be amazed by the details and effort that was put in to complete the building to 100% of perfection.

Projected model of the finalized piece

Numerous of sculptures engraved into the main entrance, and each of them has its own story that symbolizes different

One of the best feature of Sagrad Familia is the stained glass. During different time of the day, the sunlight would refract through the stained glass to the main part of the basilica. Today is pretty cloudy, and there isn’t a lot of sunlight, but as you can see, the whole church is filled with colors. Every corner is in different color, and you can tell how much details Gaudi has put into to make this blend with the nature of the Sun.

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya

After visiting the Sagrada Familia, I thought I had time for the Museum of Visual Art of Catalunya as I checked the opening times from Google. It turns out the opening time is actually for Summer, and January happens to the worst month to visit Barcelona, given that Barcelona is a summer oriented city. The Magic Fountain is also closed during winter time. I got here right when it was closing, but it doesn’t stop me from taking a picture from one of the best places for a panoramic view of Barcelona.

Right behind the museum is the Barcelona Olympics Stadium

It’s so dark even with the street lights, which makes it a little scary.

Arenas – one of the major shopping centers near the museum

Japanese Yakisoba 😀

I don’t know why I am craving for Japanese food. haha I guess I had too many payalla lately. 😉
