09/22/2015 Finland
After breakfast, Kasper and I went drop off his little brother to school and headed to the castle, which was 2 hours away from mikkeli.
The castle was settled on an island and there was a connecting bridge that was movable for ships to pass through.
We went in to the castle for a guided tour, but it was originally only in Finnish. Luckily, we only had 3 people for the guided tour and the other guy was willing to have the tour in English. He left the tour early anyway haha
Olavinlinna Castle
The guide was really good in English and we went to the top of the tower. The castle was occupied by Swedish and Russian at some point and it went through a lot of renovation and rebuilt.
Fancy parking card to keep track of how long you parked
We went to a Chinese restaurant for a lunch buffet for only 8 euros! The food wasn’t authentic at all haha but I was pretty full!
In fact, our castle ticket also comes with a ticket to enter a museum that was 3 minutes walk away from the castle. Kasper was very resourceful and gave me a lot of information about the Finnish lifestyle in the past.

Dinner at the summer house near the lake! Kasper’s brother caught a fish from lake and everyone got a taste of it! We smoked it in an box container and it was fresh and delicious!
Also double rainbow! Lucky!
Apparently, the area that Kasper’s parents live in has been occupied by their family for over 300 years!
