Singapore is a very unique country.

For me, it seems to be a little twisted. Siting on the train,  I could not hear anyone using English to converse but their own languages. The whole country seems to be forced to use English. English is only used for writings. Meanwhile, many of the menus and signs also have Chinese as “subtitles.” Seeing the situation from another perspective, I think that maybe the country is also so multicultural that English in turn becomes the only language that everyone can understands. Either way, it’s very different from what I thought Singapore is.

Majority of the people have Chinese heritage and they speak Chinese. However, at the same time, Chinese seems to be depreciated here.

Air quality here is so bad due the burning forest in Indonesia. The whole country is covered with smog. The pollutants from the air irritate your eyes which made you feel really uncomfortable.

It is also weird that signs are put up everywhere that warns people from shoplifting and among other laws. Is Singapore really that insecure? Those signs make me really uncomfortable. It’s like watching me every minute to ask me not to do anything.
