07-16-2015 I missed by flight!!!!!
Arrived in the airport already kind of early… two hours before the flight.
Because I recently applied for the AMEX Platinum card, I have access to AMEX Centurion Lounge as part of the benefits.
The lounge is quite nice, with all the free food (buffet style) and a bar.
As this is my first time entering an airport lounge, I am extremely excited and wanted to try out everything on the table, haha.
Because it is kind of close to the closing hours of the lounge, the main courses are no longer available. There is only leftovers soup, salad and dessert, but they were delicious ????
I even ordered a drink from the bar for sleeping a little better on the flight.
Because the lounge is so good, and I got so much food… I arrived at the gate 8 minutes before the flight actually departs, when the gate usually closes 15 minutes before departure time.
I freaked out … This is my first time actually missing any flights. Usually flights don’t actually go on time, and I was absolutely wrong.
I begged the gate attendant to let me in, but since the gate is already closed, there is nothing she could do to reopen the gate… my bad… I should have come to the gate early. She asked me to reschedule my flight at the customer service counter across.
Luckily, the customer service person was able to schedule me to another flight on stand by departs an hour later and confirmed me on the earliest flight tomorrow morning. I really appreciate United’s help on getting me on the next available flight with no fee apparently thanks to the unspoken “flat tire rule.”
Hopefully I could get on the next flight tonight, so I could still visit New York a bit.
Super glad that I actually got a seat on the next flight, just a few hours from the original flight
(Plus got upgraded to economy plus)
