2015-07-04 Asago, Hyōgo – Takeda Castle「天空の城」竹田城跡
First road trip in Japan!! Woke up early in the morning to get to this Castle in the sky. Apparently, the Japanese government does not like American licenses, but German licenses. I was not able to convert my driver’s license to a Japanese one. I couldn’t drive here.
This Takeda Castle is in Asago, a city located in northern Hyōgo Prefecture. The only way to get here from Osaka is to drive.
As this is what we were expecting, we wanted to take a picture from the side of the mountain before actually reaching the castle.
Oh well, that was a mistake we made for the trip.
We were sort of lost in the forrest, and it was too humid. Leeches were everywhere. I was lucky to wear long pants that covered my legs, but not everyone was that lucky. Almost everyone in the group got leeches on their body, and it was horrifying. Nice tip though: don’t just pull the leech out of your body because the sucker might remain intact. Use fire or salt, so the leech would come off itself.
