First day in Tainan area. First Stop: Kaohsiung City
Since cabs are ridiculously cheap in Taiwan. Taking cabs become our major way of transportation to save time.
Dragon and Tiger Pagodas 龍虎塔
Besides the main dragon and tiger pagodas, there are also a cluster of other Dao’s pagodas around the lake.
Adventure to the dragon’s stomach
Here we go~!
Apparently, the stomach of a dragon is drier and brighter than I imagined.
And we got out from its ass. LOL
Pigeon? He is holding a pigeon as his armor?!
Formosa Boulevard Station – Famous for its “The Dome of Light”
It looks really beautiful in picture, but it’s actually not that impressive when you get there in person.
Cute Japanese style anime maps for directions
Since our next destination, the “Love River” is not that far from Formosa Station, we decided to walk there to find our love.
But we regretted it instantly because of the hot weather… making an ice cream stop 😉
Love River
It’s just a gimmick… it’s a normal regular average river and you don’t really find anything special here…
Except a broken ring
which you can only see the whole ring by the reflection, which is also untrue.
As Kaohsiung is a tourist friendly city, the government provides free bicycle rental for 60 minutes everyday as long as you have a valid credit card and you DON’T HAVE TO RETURN IN THE SAME LOCATION where you rented. In other words, you can drop off your bike when 1 hour is up, and switch credit cards for another bike rental!

The Official Residence of British Consulate at Takao
As we are leaving the area and heading back to downtown, we got lost and met a girl who was a translator for some Japanese company. She was curious about us because we looked Asian, but we speak fluent English.
She recommended us to join her for Qijin Island for the fantastic night scenery. We were like “why not?” and tagged along with her.
The route to get to the hill was a bit hard to find, and we wouldn’t be able to find the route without the girl’s help. I would recommend bring your own flashlight. The hike was totally worth it, and the night view was absolutely fantastic!
Seafood Dinner!
Last stop of the day: Kaisyuan Night Market
We heard Tainan’s night markets were very different from the ones in Taipei, and the food would also be relatively cheaper. But this night market we visited was really quite, and not many people actually came here.
